Major Success!
The Burleson Boys and Girls Club had a lot of success this year in the Major(5th and 6th grade) division, but one team made it all the way to the Brazos Valley Superbowl! Coach John Mueller's Major 2 team went into the playoffs with a head of steam knocking off Cleburne 34-8 in the first round. In the second round, a re-match with Crowley that went into overtime the first contest took place. A 32 point offensive output proved too much for Crowley to overcome and they fell 32-22.
The Conference Championship featured two teams from Burleson; the Major 5 team led by coach Trevor Bissell and Major2. The Championship game proved to be everything you'd want out of a big game. The Major 2 team prevailed with a narrow 14-12 victory and earned the right to compete for the Brazos Valley Football League Major Superbowl. The game featured a rematch with Joshua who defeated the Burleson squad earlier in the year. The first half was close as the Burleson Boys played great defense and ball control offense. In the end, the Joshua team came up with the victory. Hats off to the boys for fighting hard and making it this far which in itself is an amazing accomplishment! |

Another team that found itself with a trophy on Superbowl Saturday was the Major 4 team led by coach Wes Tatum. The Major 4 team was competing in the Challengers Championship game. This game featured teams that lost in the first round, but continued to battle until the end. With a 14-6 victory over Midlothian 4 and a 12-6 victory over Cleburne 2, Coach Wes' boys found themselves matched up with Midlothian 2 for the Challengers Championship.
Down 12-0 at halftime, Coach Wes rallied the troops for a second half comeback! In a very exciting finish, a touchdown pass with seconds remaining sealed the 14-12 victory for Burleson Major 4. What a great way to end the season!
