7 on 7 Football

 

7 on 7 Football will be offered for the first time. The intent of this program is to improve passing and receiving skills without the physical contact of tackle football. Players will range from minor level (current 2nd and 3rd graders) to high school varsity level. To compete, coaches need to get a minimum of 10 players for a roster. Coaches will then turn in the roster and a team payment ($40 per player) during registration. The season will be 8 weeks in length and conclude with a playoff tournament to end the year. Don't hesitate to get your teams together, the first games will take place on March 6th. So far, the towns of Joshua and Crowley are entering teams with teams from other towns expected to join in. Coaches, please have players complete the Player Information and Release of Liability Form and turn that in with your Official Roster. Please see our 7 on 7 page for more info and complete rules.

Flag Football Kicks Off

For the first time ever, the Burleson Boys and Girls Club is offering flag football.  These Pre-K and Kindergarten aged kids play every Saturday at 8am and provide a great show.  I don’t know who has more fun: the kids, the parents, or the coaches! These future tackle football players are getting off to a great start.

Don’t Rain On Our Parade!!!

 

The annual Burleson Elks Homecoming Parade was a victim of the stormy weather we have been experiencing.  A lot of work went into the floats and, unfortunately, the many Burlesonians that gathered for the parade didn’t get to see them.  The Pee Wee Elk football players and cheerleaders still managed to have a good time!  Below are some pictures taken before we were soaked.

NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick

 

The NFL PUNT, PASS & KICK (PPK) program is a national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 8 -15 to compete separately against their peers.

Established in 1961, the PPK program is the oldest NFL Youth Football program.

 

Girls and boys in four separate age divisions (8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15) compete against each other in punting, passing and place kicking in a fun and engaging forum.

 

The PPK program is free – both to organizers who host a local competition and to every youngster who wants to participate!

With more than four million boys and girls from around the country taking part in the PPK competition every year from July through January, it is one of the world's largest youth sports participation programs.

 

The Burleson Boys and Girls Club hosted a Regional contest for the NFL PPK on July 12th. The event was a success with lots of fun for all the participants. Below is a list of the winners in each age group. These individuals have qualilfied to compete in the Sectional contest with a chance to move on to the Cowboys team champ and ultimately Nationals!

2009 Summer Cheer Camp

 

The Burleson Boys and Girls Club will offer Summer Cheer Camp again this year. The camp will feature Texas Cheerleader Magazine cover model Brigette VanWeezel.

The following cheerleading skills will be instructed:

  • Cheers and Chants
  • Jump Technique
  • Sideline Dance
  • Crowd Motivation

Dates: August 11th and 13th

Location: Adam Settle Field. (click for map below)

Time: 6-8 pm

Cost: $40.00 per participant

Speed and Agility Camp

 

With two camps complete, there is only one more remaining. The first two camps focused on speed and conditioning. The third camp will include speed and conditioning, but will also add some basic football skills. The price for the 3rd camp will be $35 and will take place from July 20-23. ss

Flag Football

Burleson Boys and Girls Club is proud to announce that we will be offering flag football this year. Flag football will be available for children ages 4 and 5 that are in Pre-K or Kindergarten . The cost is $20.00 per player. All participants will recieve a game shirt and a trophy. The BBGC will begin registering players this Saturday! 2nd Annual Speed and Conditioning Camps

 

Learn from a trainer of four Division 1 track champions techniques to improve speed and agility including:

Dates:

Ages: 1st-6th Grade

Cost: $35 per camp. $90 for all three camps if paid at first camp. All fees need to be paid up front.

Next Football and Cheer Sign-Ups July 11th!!!

 

The first sign-ups for the year were held Saturday, May 2. Despite the rain and storms, many football players and cheerleaders came out to join the BBGC family. There will be multiple sign-up dates this year. The times and dates are listed on the website.

 

For those of you that already signed up, check back with the website to get information on uniform fitting dates. Also remember the speed and agility camps that will be held in June.

 

The next sign-ups for the year will be held Saturday, July 11th from 10am-2pm. We will be holding sign-ups at multiple locations. Remember, jersey numbers will be assigned on a first come first served basis. See registration information below to get more details.
